The College of Optometry & Vision Science (COVS), a recognized institution dedicated to advancing optometric education and professional development in Sri Lanka, is seeking a dynamic, qualified, and experienced individual to serve in the below Positions.
ACADEMIC HEAD/ DEPUTY ACADEMIC HEAD
Key Responsibilities:
* Oversee and manage the daily operations of the College.
* Supervise, evaluate, and support the performance of students and educators.
* Ensure compliance with curriculum standards and educational plans.
* Recruit, train, and mentor academic and administrative staff.
* Manage institutional budgets and resources effectively.
* Research and implement innovative teaching methodologies and educational technologies.
* Address academic and operational challenges with effective, timely solutions.
* Foster a clean, safe, and stimulating learning environment.
* Organize and promote academic events, workshops, and assemblies to enhance the visibility and reputation of the College.
Qualifications & Experience:
* A Bachelors degree or higher in Education. Additional qualifications in Optometry or related healthcare fields will be a distinct advantage.
* Minimum of years experience in a leadership role such as Head/ Deputy Head, or Senior Academic Administrator.
* Sound knowledge of optometry education, curriculum development, and training standards.
* Familiarity with NVQ (National Vocational Qualification) systems and TVEC regulations.
* Outstanding leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Proven ability to lead and inspire academic teams with a student-centered approach.
* High integrity, professionalism, and the capacity to manage multi-disciplinary challenges.
ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide general administrative and clerical support to the academic and management teams.
* Maintain accurate records of student enrollment, attendance, and academic progress.
* Assist in the preparation of documents, reports, and meeting minutes.
* Handle telephone, email, and in-person inquiries in a professional manner.
* Coordinate appointments, meetings, and schedules.
* Support event planning, course coordination, and internal communications.
* Manage filing systems, data entry, and inventory of office supplies.
* Liaise with students, faculty, and visitors, ensuring smooth day-to-day operations.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Minimum of GCE A/L qualifications. A diploma in administration, IT, or a related field will be an added advantage.
* Prior experience in an educational or office environment is preferred.
* Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Sinhala and English. (Tamil will be an asset.)
* Strong organizational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
* Friendly, professional demeanor with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
