Entrenching in the island in the year of 2009, the Institute of Lean Management (ILM) bolsters industrial, plantation and service sectors by enhancing business processes and development of human resources in order to encounter local and global competition on excellence, outlay, and consignment. In addition, ILM has managed to establish substantial partnerships with experts and world renowned companies throughout the years. The institute has identified the best workable strategies and practical approaches which fits the culture of the country with programs designed to address today’s business needs and promote in- house training at the least cost with value for money. Eliminating the ‘no one size fits all’ approach; ILM depends on the nature of the business, operating system and the organizational culture.

SHE Training
Poor management of safety
lead to poor morale, increased accidents, damage to property,
litigation and loss of reputation. Safety training is an investment in
managers and supervisors to help them acquire specialised knowledge and
develop the skills they need to succeed in achieving the organisational
safety targets.
It is an accepted fact that
even experienced managers need to refresh their knowledge on Safety and
Health continuously. Therefore training is an opportunity for the
personnel who are already educated in the subject to update their
knowledge. These training modules will enable them to develop
special skills required to deal effectively with employees and to meet
organisations safety targets while motivating their teams.
These Safety and Health
training modules are specially designed for senior and middle level
managers working in industrial environments who need to enhance their
knowledge on the latest Occupational Health and Safety information and
to improve their skills in managing safety in their workplaces. The
modules are delivered by a qualified faculty with many years of
industrial safety experience.
These training programs can
be tailor-made to suit the needs and culture of the
individual organisation.
Management Systems audit
Safety audits are conducted
for various purposes. These can be Management system audits, Deep
compliance audits, Physical conditions tours, Work permit audits,
Change management audits, Critical equipment/component audits,
Electrical compliance audits, Safety behaviour observations etc.
In order to ensure
compliance with organisational, legislative or international standards,
our Safety auditors will conduct the audits on the relevant protocol
and identify non conformances. The findings will be communicated to the
management with appropriate recommendations.
Risk assessments
Risk assessments
should be carried out based on task, equipment or
location. PHA or Hazops can be used to assess the risks
associated with the processes. However the most important requirement
is the recognition of the hazards. Usually these exercises are carried
out in teams. Such teams must be guided to spot the hazards. A properly
guided team will be able to recognise the existing hazards as well as
potential hazards. Our experts with a wide experience will lead these
teams, prepare the documents and make necessary recommendations.
Emergency plan
Emergency plans are drawn up
for identified emergencies of a site, office, transport, off sites,
events etc. Recognising the hazards and anticipating the worst case
scenario needs the input of experts. For each of the
identified situation, the response must be decided based on the
priorities and available resources. A comprehensive emergency plan is
the outcome of a process of brainstorming by a team of employees /
stakeholders and a well experienced guide. Our experts can now compose
the organisations Site Emergency plan, Transport emergency
plan and Outdoor event emergency plans.
Chemical hazard review
All manufacturing sites
store, transport, use, dispose a variety of chemical compounds. These
may be used in the manufacturing process as raw materials, ingredients,
fuels, and engineering materials, cleaning agents, propellants or
refrigerants. Apart from health hazards, these materials may lead to
fire and explosion. Hazards may arise due to the storage conditions,
activities in the vicinity, interaction between two materials,
incompatibility of materials of construction, exposure to moisture or
decomposition. To recognise the hazards, a thorough understanding of
the behaviour of these chemicals is required. Our experts will evaluate
the chemicals stored and used in the site and make recommendations to
ensure safety of life and property.
Process safety review
Process plants have resulted
in major disasters all over the world. Flixborough, Seveso, Chernobyl
Texas city and Bhopal are few case studies of Process accidents.
Processes must be operated within a certain design criteria. Operators
/ technicians may fail to understand unusual behaviour of processes.
Routine maintenance may compromise the original design and consequently
compromise the basis of safety. The hazards infiltrated into the
process through modifications may lie dormant for any length of time
until the rest of the controls lapse.
These hidden process hazards
can be recognized and eliminated by our team of experienced
Chemical engineers who have experience in designing, commissioning,
operating, trouble shooting and decommissioning Chemical and
petrochemical plants.
