About the teacher
I am a chemistry special graduate from university of Colombo, Sri Lanka and obtained my master in chemistry at NTNU (Norwegian University of science and technology) Norway. Due to my extreme passion for chemistry, I have selected my carrier and interest of research with a specialty towards advanced inorganic chemistry and nanotechnology.
In addition to research, I find teaching fascinating and I have experience more than years as a freelance tutor and an academic staff member in University of Colombo. I have experience in teaching ordinary, advanced (Sri Lankan, Edexcel and Cambridge), undergraduate and masters level chemistry education. I have guided numerous amount of students to secure good grades, and several island rankers as well. When it comes to teaching methods for revisions, I use a sequence of questions and case based teaching to give students a better understanding, while practicing to answer according to marking schemes. The clearly, illustrative explanations given to explain complex theoretical concepts, boost student's confidence to face real exams.
When it comes to online teaching I prefer to use innovative teaching methods using the advances of technology and I've been online tutoring more than a year using platforms like skype and zoom. I use a digital writing pad and a vast amount of online resources including topical questions, past papers and textbooks.
