Introduction
When asked the inspiration of writing the book, Farill said, growing
up, key questions that were burning in his mind were “How
does an individual become a champion? What separates a winner from a
loser? Why do some achieve success and fail to sustain? And most
importantly why don’t individuals follow what they truly
love?” A moment that had been always lingering during his
teenage years, was while watching the Olympics games or the grand slam
tennis tournaments between Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras, wondering how
did these athletes reach the pinnacle of their success at a young age
and where does one start.
In his own words “After years of confusion and pain seeking
answers, what I understood is that anyone can reach mastery and
it’s not necessarily restricted to a few, by participating in
a voyage of discovery. The key factor which distinguished why some
succeed naturally and others struggle were that they discovered their
core identity and convert it into a craft. The reality is that each
person has the liberty of building an identity based on their passion
or purpose in four ground breaking aspects. The four avenues are based
on different age parameters and will explore critical analysis and
drawbacks on how each person can shape their legacy.
The book highlights the four avenues as:
- Nurtured – individuals nurtured at a very young
age by a family member, teacher, or a mentor
- Discovered – individuals that discovered an
activity that created an instant emotional connection
- Launched - Talents that are transformed into stars within
- years. Launch individuals has a higher chances of falling into
success depression – this is an eye opening and significant
chapter worth gold and could teach many key areas of building or
parachuting a career and the dangers along the way
- Designed – individuals that started life with
limited vision and during the journey discovered their identity during
the second phase of their career and reinvented themselves
In addition the book revolves around a story of a doctor who while
travelling to Los Angeles, USA, experiences a moment that changes his
life forever; he meets an enterprising personality, Zara, who helps him
to unlock the answers towards shaping his destiny. The second layer is
when Zara’s father, a self-made businessman known as Captain,
shares a manual with Dr Khan on how to discover the winner by
integrating with the P model. The manual highlights how each person
can build and sustain a winning brand with tools and techniques for
finding their passion, purpose and uplifting their profile. The third
layer is how Dr Khan takes a leap of faith and pursues a
transformational journey deep within seeking answers to questions such
as who am I and how do I discover myself creating a new identity. It is
an interesting story, and a great learning experience, as we journey
from chapter to chapter, following Dr. Khan along the intricate paths
of his tour of discovering himself, while we at the same time, learn to
discover what lay hidden deep within us. The contents of the book
challenge the reader to look inside, to apply the methodologies that
Dr. Khan himself used, to awaken that winning spirit that can conquer
the world.
Discover the winner in you is filled with fascinating insights and
wisdom to the reader and serves as a road map for individuals to
participate in their own unique success journey and create their
identity based on a P model. The model explains the
importance of integrating all P towards achieving world-class and the
lack of one P can dismantle the entire process. The sooner a person
understands the P formula and follows through, the better competitive
edge he gains over others who are stranded with uncertainty. The faster
a person hits the road and participate in the journey, the better he
will be valued and appreciated by society, thus reaching a new level of
personal power.
This book will be a road map for many individuals especially the youth
or millennials who seek clarity and purpose towards invent, reinvent
their identity.
