The first and Only Chess Olympiad Gold Medalist and 10 times Womens National Champion in Sri Lanka
The Womens National Chess Championship Tournament Started in Sri Lanka in 1979 and Suneetha participated in that and won the 1st Runners up.
After that she won the Womens National chess championship in 1980, 1982, 1983, 1984, 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988, 1995 and 1997.
Won the Maya Chiburadanidge challeng Trophy chess Tournament conducted by the sovief cultural House Sri Lanka and won the Trophies in 1981, 1982 and 1983.
Suneetha was also the first woman to win the 30th World Chess Olympiad in Manila. She won the gold medal in 1992.
In addition to that she continued to play local tournaments and also represented Sri Lanka many times internationally.
She reigned as the countrys national champion throughout the 80s until 1997 when she decided it was time to switch roles to teaching.
