About the tutor
I take this opportunity to introduce myself as Dr. Angana Gupta
Rajapakse. I have been a senior Post-Doctoral Fellow (Group leader) in
Department of Medicine, University of Fribourg, Switzerland till
.. in Biological Science.
After spending more than years in Switzerland, we have taken the
decision to come back to Sri Lanka, where we will have the opportunity
to share our acquired knowledge and serve the country. At this moment I
am teaching biology in one of the top international schools, Lyceum
International in Sri Lanka.
I have done my PhD as well as my postdoctoral studies in University of
Fribourg, Switzerland. For my PhD, I have worked in the field of
vascular biology with special emphasis on role of signaling pathway
especially mTOR (mammalian Target Of Rapamycin) in cardiovascular
endothelial dysfunction in aging and hyperglycemia. Till .., I
was working on renal pathophysiology emphasizing on the phenotype of
Arginase II in kidney in obesity and aging and looking at the role of
Arginase II in urine concentration mechanism.
Besides these two fields of research, I have also done cancer research.
During my MPhil studies in Jawaharlal Nehru University, India, I had
worked on Correlation between blood Hyaluronectin level and tumor
incidence. I have ample knowledge in the field of oncology and the
signaling pathways involved in the progression of metastasis and I keep
myself abreast with developments in cancer research.
The enclosed Curriculum vitae shows my publications and project
details. I had good opportunity as postdoctoral fellow to take part in
project oriented decisions and also had the chance to teach first to
third year medical students. These two experiences allowed me to
develop inter -personal as well as leadership skills, hence I can take
my own decision as well as work in a team.
I have publications in peer-reviewed journals. I have won the
best awards in Switzerland, which reflects my presentation skills.
