Currently my child is studying abroad in Grade 9, and willing to continue her studies in Sri Lanka in English medium Private School - local syllabus.
My question is, Is it compulsory to study at least 5 Years in Sri Lanka for getting university entry eligibility.
If she studies from Grade 10 onwards or from end of Grade 9 in Sri Lanka, then she will not be eligible for local university after her A/L?

According to my knowledge, there would be no issue if your child does OL and AL in national stream. The eligibility criteria looks for the AL results and some degrees the OL result only. Better check with the University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka for more information
As long as your child do his O/L and A/L national syllabus there won't be any issues. Because they do not ask for any other information apart from these two exam qualifications.
OL and AL will allow her to enter into state university. But there is a big competition among the AL candidates to get into state-universities. It is limited to the best students in the county. Anyway, there are many private universities in Sri Lanka in which she could study with OL or AL for an affordable fee.
Yes, better to check with University Grants Commission of Sri Lanka for more information.
It is no matter your child do O/L and A/L local syllabus in English medium to enter the university
No problem.
First access the local authority to know if they accept you to continue her studies in Sri Lankan syllabus. If they accept your child, then no problem. She can follow her education even in the universities of Sri Lanka
Yes You can start from the grade 10. The choice of subjects starts from grade 10 so it is OK. at the University selections, the degree choices offered to the student are based primarily on A/L results. However as some other additional degree choices open up as per the subjects offered at O/L's, it is required to start the local stream from the subject selection point, which is grade 10. All the best and good luck!!
Yes, you can do it without any issue by starting the OL program from grade 10.
If you want more clarification please contact the University Grant Commission of Sri Lanka.

No. There is no such need
Yes. If your child entered to a government school at grade 9 your child can enter to a university of Sri Lanka after facing the A/L
Doing GCE O/L and GCE A/L in Sri Lanka following the national curriculum is enough for SL state university entrance.
Any how is it possible to enter the Sri Lankan curriculum and after the A/L exam it is possible to enter local universities upon the results he/she obtained. Pls get more information from ministry of education.
Yes, now 3 years of study is enough
