There are many organisations that offer you British examinations. However if you need to fulfill your particular need, contact 0772867928. There are two recognized and student friendly organisations that offer British examintaions. Thanks. Panthea Elangovan

yes there are exams for elocution, the first thing to do is to enrol yourself in a organisation that teaches elocution eg. Wendy Whatmore Academy. They will point you in the right direction!

Yes there are exams conducted by LAMDA as well as Trinity College of London here in Sri Lanka. The local agent for LAMDA is Gateway school of Speech and Drama, for TCL its the polytechnic. If you require classes or training for any of these exams, I conduct classes. You can get in touch with me via the e mail assess given here.
Hope this helps.

My daughter is now 7 years old. she is studying in English medium. Can she do the Elocution exam directly with the Institute without going to the classes?

Certain families in Britain who are keen on their children following a theatre career etc. get their children started on what is broadly called "elocution" very early. For Sri Lankans the fees are high. Concentrate on developing fluency and confidence in your child. By around the age of 18 a child could start on one of the Trinity [sic] College of London Diplomas [Associateship, Licentiate, and Fellowship]. It is now 35 years since Ronald Dore featured Sri Lanka prominently in his book "The Diploma Disease. I do myself teach speech. Ive stuck with TCL for higher qualifications, but there are many other institutions conducting exams.

Elocution Teachers pay a great attention in correct pronunciation, spelling, vocabulary, calligraphy and in different genres which a child may enjoy. Developing these basic talents in English Language as it is an international language and specially in case of second language students in their young age would help them in their later studies because they learn these fundamentals easily through the light materials. They may not have enough time in a later time when their different syllabi become heavy and compulsory. Therefore you assess your child\'s plus and minus points and allow her to private classes without giving her much load and stress. After all she is a small child, isn\'t it? I hope the present teacher in the English Medium school would help you in this matter and suggest the relevant exams she should appear. Here, the guiding the child without stress and assessing her talents are very important. Thank you for approaching FAT which gives me an opportunity to give you a humble advice. Wish you and your child a success in all your endeavors.
