Hello! Middle-East countries usually recognize qualifications from British Universities or Colleges. It depends on what grade you intend to teach. Cambridge University English Language Certificate courses are offered by the British Council in Colombo. CAE (Cambridge Advanced English) exam is the highest level you can do at British Council. They have international recognition. IF you can score BAND 8 in IELTS anybody will hire you as a teacher! If you want any further information please call me at 0776 091231 Paul Kanagarajah.

CELTA qualification may give you some weight on this. However, some institutes may ask you for a BA or MA in TESOL. The requirement of qualifications varies according to the geographical location you may work at and also on your target group. Exams such as TOEFL, IELTS, Cambridge ESOL show your language proficiency, not about your ability in teaching English.

There are lots of tests. For a teacher I feel that TKT is also ok and for English you can try IELTS or TOEFL.

You can contact me on 0777749502, I can help you on these as I am a professional tutor for these subjects.

It depends on what qualifications that you have at present.

You will need a qualification similar to TESOL - Teaching English as a Second Language
