Failed to register as an attorney

I completed LLB degree in 2005 at Colombo University as an external student while I was employed at an insurance company. I had to devote myself to complete it undergoing financial difficulties and leave problems. But I failed to register as an attorney as it was difficult to get approved leave for the examination. So I had to wait until the retirement. But now I have been informed that there is no chance for it under the present age limit rule. At the time I did the degree there was no such rule. Please look in to this matter and give a solution for this.

Yes new age limit for attorney at law in Sri Lanka is 30. But I can prepare you for the Barrister at law UK exam and let you take the exam through the British Council in Sri Lanka. Thereafter you can apply for the attorney law license in Sri Lanka.

Even if you do your Barristers if you want to work in SL you will still have to do the final year examination at law college to be enrolled as an Attorney at Law. Therefore with the current age limit you can not still register at Law College. But to my knowledge(after having checked with the college office) this regulation with regard to age will be taken off soon. Then you will be able to register at SLLC and do the final year examination of the Bar. It is best you get in touch with Law College and keep yourself up to date with the latest developments.
