School leaving certificate is mandatory according to a principal of a school
School leaving certificate is mandatory if the candidate wish to sit as a private candidate.
How ever all the school candidates can apply for the A/L from their mother school for the 2nd time, Only in the 3rd attempt, should be applied private.
When candidates sent applications though school he / she can take the certificate form schools, but they sent the application as private candidates, it is not like a school student, as well as I think 2nd time if need 3rd y have to discuss with principal
Yes. It is mandatory. Only those who have obtained the school-resignation certificate can apply as private candidates. It is completely prohibited for anyone to sit this examination as a private candidate, while still being in school. If such a sitting is discovered, the examination results will be invalidated and they will be debarred from sitting any future examinations.
Yes, its mandatory, but 2nd time you can apply through the school.
The only authority who can allow / deny a person to sit the GCE A/L exam, is the Commissioner of Examinations (Department of Examinations) Further, many new laws have been enacted and one must know the law as at today! When I was 25 years old and was working full-time, I wrote the GCE A/L exam as a private candidate and passed the exam. I didn't ask the school or the principal for permission. I am not aware of the rules and regulations at present. In case of dispute, Commissioner of exams or the Hon. Minister of Education is the person to seek advice from.

I am doing A/L in this year (2023). I was doing biology but it is harder for me and I chose art stream. This is my first shy of A/L. I am going to apply A/L as a private candidate. I want to know whether the school leaving certificate is essential to apply as a first shy private candidate?
I have completed GCE(O/L) in English medium. I couldn’t find any English medium school government or private in Batticaloa. I am following A/L Bio in English medium through zoom. If I sit as private candidate (without school attends) university entrance is possible?
