There is no specific ID for the O/L. If you are above 16 you can apply for the NIC. If not, get the postal ID.
You will have to inform the authorities that you need it for the examination

Dear Student,
I would like to give my advice like follows.

1. First conform whether you have applied for the NIC through school or the Grama Seva Niladhari, In your village.  I believe, that you may forwarded through school.

2.  If the application was forwarded from school, then it would have been forwarded together with the other applications of your class friends.  Then you can find out  from them, whether they have received the NIC.  If, they have not received the NIC, then you too will receive it with them together.

3.  If they have received the NIC and you have not, then it may be due to the age problem.  The NIC for the O/L 2017 is issued to the students who are born on or before the 31st October 2001.  (Please conform this date with your class teacher or Head teacher)

4.  If you are in the age that you are unable to receive the NIC, then you are able to sit for the OL exam, using a valid Pass Port or the Postal Identity Card.

5.  If there were some mistakes in the application, then it will be informed to you by the Department of  Department of Registrations of Persons.  

6.  If you have forwarded the application through your Grama Seva Niladhari, then you would get a strip of acknowledgement.   Find out Grama Seva Niladhari  from the what to do.  He/ She will advice you.  But to do the tracing, he will need the acknowledgement.

Dear Student
It seems that you are panic due to the delay in receiving your NIC. You can ask your head master/teacher of the deadline of receiving this NIC, if date is not exceeded, you may still wait for till you receive, or you may go directly to the Department of Registration of Persons along with the any reference from where you applied for NIC, if school, they would issue you the acknowledgement note.

Go to NIC office and you can get it within one day.

Usually dept. gives priority for o/l students when issuing id cards, this season. If there are errors in the application they inform you to correct and re-submit.
Check whether you were informed such a thing . If applied through school they do the needful. Otherwise check from the dept . They usually send ID's on time.

It's better if you visit department of registration of person at uhurupaya, Sri Subhuthipura Road, Battaramulla during weekdays and give your complaint to the officers.

Can I sit for the o level exam in grade 10?
